ECON 300 Topics in Economics<br />
This course is designed to investigate and evaluate current topics or specialized areas <strong>of</strong><br />
economics. Course topics are announced the term preceding the <strong>of</strong>fering. May be repeated<br />
with different topics. Prerequisite: Designated for each topic <strong>of</strong>fered. 3 Hrs.<br />

ECON 351 Money and Banking<br />
This is a study <strong>of</strong> the fundamental principles and practices <strong>of</strong> the money and credit systems <strong>of</strong><br />
the United States; financial institutions, commercial banking, the Federal Reserve System,<br />
monetary theories and policy. Prerequisites: ECON 203 and 204, BUSN 207 and 208. 3 Hrs.<br />
ECON 355 American Capitalism<br />
This course in business and history investigates the origins, dynamics, structures, and trajectories<br />
<strong>of</strong> American capitalism from its birth during the Industrial Revolution <strong>of</strong> the 1700s until<br />
today. While this course focuses on American capitalism as an economic and social system,<br />
it also studies the ways in which American capitalism shapes, and is shaped by, the wider<br />
American experience. 3 Hrs.<br />
ECON 454 International Trade<br />
This is a study <strong>of</strong> international payments, international economic theory, contemporary economic<br />
nationalism, international investment and currency problems and the commercial policies<br />
<strong>of</strong> foreign countries. May be taken as BUSN 454. Prerequisites: ECON 203 and 204. 3 Hrs.<br />

EDUC 201 Diversity in Education<br />
In this course we will investigate both the similarities and differences within cultures, race,<br />
gender, ethnicity, sexual preference, classism, religion and exceptionalities. This will be accomplished<br />
through self-exploration and various activities. These topics will be discussed in terms<br />
<strong>of</strong> our educational system. Our focus will be to examine various methods for teaching diversity<br />
within a K-6 curriculum. Prerequisite: sophomore status or above. Spring Term, every year.<br />

EDUC 221 Foundation <strong>of</strong> American Education<br />
Sociological, historical and philosophical background, purposes and concepts basic to the<br />
development <strong>of</strong> public education in the United States. Primarily for sophomore level students;<br />
required <strong>of</strong> all students in teacher education. A field experience is required. Fall Term, every<br />
year. 3 Hrs.<br />
EDUC 225 Curriculum and Instruction in the Elementary School<br />
Curricular planning and development skills with emphasis on designing and implementing integrated<br />
activities, developing individualized materials and classroom organization and management.<br />
A field experience is required. Prerequisite for other methods and materials courses.<br />

EDUC 260 Teaching Children with Special Needs in Elementary School<br />
This course is designed to prepare preservice teachers to effectively work with and teach<br />
sutdents with special needs. Emphasis will be placed on specific methodologies that relate to<br />
the theory and practice <strong>of</strong> teaching students with special needs. Emphasis will also be placed<br />
on helping preservice teachers learn to consider learning environments, cultural, and socioeconomic<br />
factors in addition to student abilities when selecting effective teaching strategies for<br />
learners with special needs. Prerequisite: sophomore status or above. Fall Term, every year.<br />
