PSYC 308 Exceptional Child<br />

Study <strong>of</strong> problems experienced by children who deviate from normative patterns <strong>of</strong> growth and<br />

development. Prerequisite: PSYC 320 or permission <strong>of</strong> the instructor. Spring Term, even years.<br />

PSYC 310 Applied General Psychology<br />

Study <strong>of</strong> the abilities and limitations <strong>of</strong> humans to sense, store, process information and act<br />

applied to the design, use and maintenance <strong>of</strong> human/machine systems including human<br />

computer interaction. Fall Term, even years. 3 Hrs.<br />

PSYC 311 Psychological Tests<br />

Introductory study <strong>of</strong> principles <strong>of</strong> test evaluation and interpretation and consideration <strong>of</strong> examples<br />

<strong>of</strong> the major types <strong>of</strong> psychological tests in reference to these principles. Prerequisite:<br />

PSYC 312 Sensation and Perception<br />

An introduction to the processes by which humans receive and interpret information from the<br />

environment. Sensory coding, information processing, perceptual development, perceptual<br />

illusions and psychophysical methods are among the topics discussed. As needed. 3 Hrs.<br />

PSYC 314 Psychology <strong>of</strong> Learning<br />

An introduction to the processes by which humans receive and interpret information from the<br />

environment. Sensory coding, information processing, perceptual development, perceptual<br />

illusions and psychophysical methods are among the topics discussed. As needed. 3 Hrs.<br />

PSYC 315 Laboratory in Conditioning and Learning<br />

Conducting experiments in respondent and operant conditioning and in human verbal learning.<br />

Prerequisite/Co-requisite: PSYC 314. Three hours laboratory per week. As needed. 1 Hr.<br />

PSYC 316 Cognitive Psychology<br />

Scientific study <strong>of</strong> mental processes involved in the acquisition, storage, retrieval and use <strong>of</strong><br />

knowledge. This course covers theory and research in cognitive psychology as applied to<br />

topics such as attention, memory, language and problem solving. Fall Term, every year. 3 Hrs.<br />

PSYC 320 Develpmental Psychology<br />

An introduction to developmental processes from conception to old age. The emphasis in the<br />

course is on developmental principles, theoretical views and recent research. Fall Term, Spring<br />

Term, every year. 3 Hrs.<br />

PSYC 328 Infant and Child Development<br />

An examination <strong>of</strong> the development <strong>of</strong> children from early infancy through middle childhood including<br />

various aspects <strong>of</strong> pre and post natal development. Theoretical, empirical and practical<br />

aspects <strong>of</strong> the cognitive, social, emotional and physical development <strong>of</strong> the young child will be<br />

covered. Prerequisite: PSYC 201. Fall or Spring Terms, every year. 3 Hrs.<br />

PSYC 330 Psychology <strong>of</strong> Adulthood and Aging<br />

An examination <strong>of</strong> the factors that contribute to the psychological pr<strong>of</strong>ile characterizing adulthood<br />

and old age, with concentration on old age. Emphasis on theories and processes underlying<br />

continuity and change with age. Included are field trips and discussion <strong>of</strong> new issues in<br />

applied research and service provision for older persons. Fall or Spring every year. 3 Hrs.
