Modern approach to the study of Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometries, including incidence
and affine geometries; designed especially for students preparing to teach. Prerequisites:
MATH 122. Fall term, even years. 3 Hrs.
MATH 311 Differential Equations
This course is designed to introduce the student to differential equations and their applications.
In addition to studying the theoretical aspects of differential equations, students will also
examine numerical methods and solutions with the use of the existing computer facilities and
software. Prerequisite: MATH 122. As requested by students. 3 Hrs.
equations; algorithms and theorems relating to the properties of division, the factorization of
integers into primes and the rational approximation of irrational numbers. Prerequisites: MATH
122. As requested by students. 3 Hrs.
MATH 401 Modern Algebra I Introduction to abstract algebra.
Topics include basic properties of integers, permutation groups, subgroups, quotient groups,
group isomorphisms and homomorphism, rings and ideals. This course fulfills the writing-intensive
course requirement. Prerequisite: MATH 303. Fall Term, even years. 4 Hrs.
