THE ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCE OF NURSING (ASN) PROGRAM<br />

The two-year nursing program is comprised <strong>of</strong> 30 credit hours <strong>of</strong> general education courses<br />

and 41 credit hours <strong>of</strong> Nursing courses leading to an Associate <strong>of</strong> Science in Nursing (ASN)<br />

degree.<br />

The ASN program prepares a novice practitioner <strong>of</strong> Nursing with essential knowledge and<br />

skills that facilitate critical thinking and a holistic, caring approach to the healthcare needs <strong>of</strong><br />

individuals across the lifespan.<br />

The ASN faculty promotes a nurturing and intellectually stimulating environment that encourages<br />

the pursuit <strong>of</strong> knowledge and facilitates personal growth, accountability, respect for self<br />

and others and contribution to the community.<br />

Completion <strong>of</strong> the ASN program qualifies the graduate to sit for the NCLEX-RN® licensing<br />

exam to become a Registered Nurse. The curriculum also provides excellent preparation for<br />

subsequent completion <strong>of</strong> the BSN degree, especially through the RN-to-BSN program <strong>of</strong><br />

Presbyterian School <strong>of</strong> Nursing at <strong>Queens</strong>.<br />

Requirements for the Associate <strong>of</strong> Science in Nursing are:<br />
