According to Nielsen//NetRatings, as of May 2003, there were about 39 million<br />

(approx. 13% of Americans) connecting via broadband in the United States. Table 1.3<br />

illustrates that broadband users at home in the U.S. grew 49% from 2002 to 2003, while<br />

narrowband users declined 12% during the same period.<br />
