Another <strong>in</strong>dicator that improved malaria control is hav<strong>in</strong>g a beneficial effect, <strong>and</strong> especially<br />

among rural children, is the substantial reduction <strong>in</strong> anaemia 36 (Figure 20). The percentage of<br />

rural children with anaemia fell from 11.8% <strong>in</strong> 2004/05 to 7.5% <strong>in</strong> 2007/08, while the change <strong>in</strong><br />

anaemia prevalence among urban children is not likely to be significant.<br />
