DR.H.C. HEINRICH LUMPE (1859 -1936)
Po absolvování obecné školy a měšťanky se Heinrich Lumpe
vyučil v ústeckém obchodě s koloniálním zbožím svého strýce
Ignaze Lumpeho, který zanedlouho převzal a úspěšně vedl. V
roce 1908 založil společnost pro výstavbu vodovodů, která
mimo jiné postavila vodovod na Sněžku. Téhož roku zřídil
Lumpe na východním úpatí Mariánské skály park pro ochranu
přírody a ptactva (dnešní ZOO»), na jehož rozvoj věnoval značné
finanční částky. Za zásluhy o ochranu ptactva a životního
prostředí mu vídeňská universita udělila zlatý diplom a universita
v Greifswaldu čestný doktorát.

Max Schaffner byl od roku 1859 technickým ředitelem Rakouského
spolku pro chemickou a metalurgickou výrobu». Již od
počátku kladl velký důraz na vlastní vědecký výzkum továrny.
Firma se úspěšně rozvíjela a Schaffner se v roce 1872 stal
generálním ředitelem a díky finančním ziskům ze své vlastní
badatelské práce také významným akcionářem firmy a prezi-

After completing elementary and junior school, Heinrich Lumpe
served his apprenticeship in the Ústí grocery shop owned by
his uncle Ignaz Lumpe. He took over the shop in a short time
and ran the business very well. In 1908, he founded a company
building water mains, which also installed water mains to
Mount Sněžka. In the same year, Lumpe established a conservation
area and a bird sanctuary on the eastern foothills of
Mariánská Rock (today’s ZOO»), and he invested enormous
funds in its development. He was awarded a gold diploma for
his contribution to the protection of birds and environment by
the Viennese University and was a recipient of an honourable
doctor’s decree granted by the University of Greifswald.

Max Schaffner became technical director of the Austrian Chemical
and Metallurgical Works» in 1859. From the very beginning,
he put great emphasis on the company’s own scientific
research. The company did very well and Schaffner became
managing director in 1872. Thanks to the financial income from

Nach Absolvieren der Volksschule und Bürgerschule machte
Heinrich Lumpe eine Ausbildung im Aussiger Geschäft für Kolonialwaren
bei seinem Onkel Ignaz Lumpe, welches er in kurzer
Zeit übernahm und erfolgreich führte. Im Jahre 1908 gründete
er eine Gesellschaft für den Aufbau von Wasserleitungen, die
unter anderem auch die Wasserleitung zum Berg Sněžka (Schneekoppe)
baute. In demselben Jahr errichtete Lumpe am östlichen
Fuße des Marienfelsens einen Park zum Schutz der
Natur und der Vogelwelt (der heutige Zoo»), für dessen Entwicklung
er deutliche finanzielle Beträge widmete. Für seine
Verdienste um den Schutz der Vogelwelt und der Umwelt wurde
ihm ein goldenes Diplom von der Wiener Universität und eine
Ehrendoktorwürde von der Universität in Greifswald verliehen.
