VARTA
hradu. Hrad je ve
druhé polovině 14. století
připomínán jako strážní
hrádek a v 15. století v
souvislosti s Vartenberky.
1716 Harrachové, kteří ho drželi až do roku 1841, kdy ho zakoupil
Karel Chotek.
střechou s řadou ozdobných vikýřů a završené polygonální
Významný český a rakouský
VARTA
The small village of Varta is situated between the hills on the
right bank of the River Labe above Svádov. The name of the
village is presumably
derived from the nearby
hill on which a castle of
the same name used to
stand. Today we can
hardly see the ruins of it.
The castle is referred to
as a guard point in the
late 14th century and in
the 15th century it is
referred to in relation to
the Family of Vartenberk.
In 1465, the castle was
demolished after prolonged
disputes.
VELKÉ BŘEZNO
83
The area around Velké Březno was administered from Castle
Varta in the Middle Ages. As the name indicates, the castle
belonged to the demesne of the family of Vartenberk, who transferred
the centre of their demesne to Velké Březno in the late
15th century. They owned it until the end of the 14th century.
The Vartenberk´s controlled both banks of the River Labe valley
for a long time, as they also owned the demesne of Blansko
on the opposite bank. In 1515, Velké Březno passed to the
Salhausens, and in 1606, it was bought by Abraham of Bock.
After a period of a succession of landlords, Velké Březno was
purchased by the family of Harrach in 1716 and held by them
until 1841, when Karel Chotek bought it.
The original medieval hill fort had disappeared sometime
during the early 17th century during the Thirty Years’ War. The
Harrach´s had a chateau built nearby in the 1730´s , which is
designated as the “old chateau”. The one-storey building has a
mansard roof with a number of decorative dormers and a small
polygonal tower. The chateau did not meet the demands for the
current standard of living and representation as early as in the
mid 19th century and was used as an outbuilding of the
demesne. Since 1945, it has been held by the state and seats
a retirement home.
VARTA (WARTA)
Burg Varta infolge langwieriger Auseinandersetzungen niedergerissen.
