10. Transport (C)<br />

a. Missions include:<br />

(1) Transporting personnel and cargo. (<strong>The</strong> "C" stands for<br />

"Cargo.")<br />

(2) Aerial refueling of aircraft. (Transport aircraft used for<br />

refueling are designated "KC.")<br />

b. Types of transport aircraft<br />

(1) C-9B Skytrain--<strong>Navy</strong> version of civilian passenger airliner.<br />

(2) C-130 Hercules--One of the most versatile tacticaltransport<br />

aircraft ever built.<br />

(3) KC-130--refuels aircraft in flight.<br />

(4) C-2A Greyhound--Normally used for carrier onboard delivery<br />

(COD); i.e., transporting supplies and personnel from land<br />

to aircraft carriers.<br />

11. Special Electronics (E) /reconnaissance<br />

a. Mission varies with type of aircraft.<br />

b. Types of special electronics aircraft<br />

(1) E-2C Hawkeye--Mission is to use radar for early warning of<br />

approaching enemy:<br />

(a) Aircraft<br />

(b) Missiles<br />

(c) Ships<br />

(d) Submarines<br />

(2) EA-6B Prowler--Mission is to:<br />

(a) Jam enemy radar signals.<br />

(b) Destroy enemy radars.<br />
