6. Improvised Explosive Device and the Places Where Terrorists Might Hide<br />

One<br />

a. Improvised explosive device (IED)--A bomb normally rigged<br />

together from readily available materials that is designed to<br />

explode and:<br />

(1) Destroy objects and facilities.<br />

(2) Incapacitate and kill people.<br />

b. Terrorists might hide bombs/IEDs:<br />

(1) Outside; for example, in:<br />

(a) Trash cans<br />

(b) Dumpsters<br />

(c) Mailboxes<br />

(d) Street drain systems<br />
