e. Sounding and security watches and patrols<br />

(1) Assigned to increase the physical security of the ship or<br />

station.<br />

(2) Conducts inspections throughout the ship to check:<br />

(a) For classified material stowage.<br />

(b) For evidence of sabotage, theft, and fire hazards.<br />

(c) Soundings (i.e., take liquid level readings) in tanks<br />

and spaces.<br />

(3) Soundings and results of inspections are reported to the<br />

OOD and logged in the ship’s deck log.<br />

(4) Unusual conditions are reported to the OOD immediately.<br />

f. Barracks security watches and patrols<br />

(1) This watch provides for:<br />

(a) Protection against fire.<br />

(b) <strong>The</strong> safety of personnel and material.<br />

(2) <strong>The</strong> watch is responsible for:<br />

(a) Knowing and carrying out the provisions of the fire<br />

bill, emergency bill, and barracks regulations.<br />

(b) Maintaining good order and discipline<br />

(c) Ensuring that unauthorized personnel do not enter the<br />

barracks.<br />

(3) Barracks security is usually a roving watch.<br />

8. Purpose of the Watch, Quarter, and Station Bill<br />

a. Displays your duties for each emergency and watch condition, and<br />

your administrative and operational duties.<br />

b. Lists divisional stations you will be assigned, such as:<br />

(1) Cleaning station<br />

(2) General Quarters (battle stations)<br />

(3) Watch details<br />

(4) Fire details<br />

(5) Rescue and Assistance details<br />
