(14) Article 83, fraudulent enlistment, appointment, or<br />

separation--Any person who procures their own military<br />

enlistment, appointment, or separation by providing false<br />

information is punishable under the UCMJ.<br />

(15) Article 84, Unlawful enlistment, appointment, or<br />

separation--Any person who aids the military enlistment,<br />

appointment, or separation of any person known to be<br />

ineligible because it is prohibited by law, regulation, or<br />

order, is punishable under the UCMJ.<br />

(16) Article 85, Desertion--A member is guilty of desertion who:<br />

(a) Leaves his/her unit or place of duty with no intention<br />

of returning.<br />

(b) Quits their unit or place of duty to avoid hazardous<br />

duty or shirk important service.<br />

(c) Without being regularly separated from one of the<br />

armed forces, enlists or accepts an appointment in<br />

another U.S. or foreign armed service.<br />

(17) Article 87, Missing movement--Any person who misses the<br />

movement of their ship, aircraft, or unit is in violation<br />

of this article.<br />

(18) Article 88, Contempt toward officials--Any commissioned<br />

officer is guilty of contempt toward officials, who uses<br />

threatening words against any of the following personnel:<br />

(a) President<br />

(b) Vice President<br />

(c) Congress<br />

(d) Secretary of Defense<br />

(e) Secretary of a military department<br />

(f) Secretary of Transportation<br />

(g) Governor or legislature of any state, territory,<br />

commonwealth, or possession in which the officer is on<br />

duty or present<br />

(19) Article 89, Disrespect toward superior commissioned<br />

officer--Any person who behaves disrespectfully toward<br />

their superior commissioned officer is in violation of this<br />

article.<br />
