14. Methods of Correcting Damage to the Ship During Emergencies<br />

15. Procedures to Apply a Jubilee Patch to a Damaged Section of Pipe<br />

a. Before making emergency repairs to a damaged section of pipe,<br />

secure the cutoff valves on both sides of the damage to stop the<br />

fluid flow.<br />

b. Obtain a sheet of packing and a jubilee patch from the repair<br />

locker. Packing is a material inserted between the damaged<br />

section of pipe and the jubilee patch to prevent fluid from<br />

leaking.<br />

c. Place the sheet of packing over the damaged section of pipe to<br />

extend over both sides of the hole.<br />

d. Spring open and place the jubilee patch over the packing covering<br />

the damaged section of pipe.<br />

e. Tighten the bolts to secure the patch.<br />

f. Open the cutout valves to allow fluid flow through the repaired<br />

section of pipe.<br />
