(4) Place your “weak” arm vertical under the weapon with “weak”<br />

hand on the slide action.<br />

(5) Place cheek tightly against the butt stock with “strong”<br />

eye in line with the sights.<br />

(6) Bend your forward knee and place your weight forward. Lean<br />

into it.<br />

c. Shooting from the hip<br />

(1) Lock your forward arm downward, just forward of the body.<br />

(2) Keep the shotgun tucked tightly between your strong arm and<br />

hip, bend your forward knee and place your weight forward.<br />

Lean into it.<br />

12. Procedures to Load the Shotgun<br />

** WARNING ** IF SOMETHING IS DROPPED ON DECK BY YOU OR YOUR INSTRUCTOR, DO<br />

NOT PICK IT UP!<br />

a. Chamber Loading (COMBAT LOAD)<br />

(1) Push Safety to “ON” position.<br />

(2) Depress the action bar lock.<br />

(3) Pull the Slide Action fully to the rear.<br />

(4) Place cartridge into open ejection port.<br />

(5) Push slide action forward to load cartridge into the<br />

chamber.<br />

b. Display Magazine Loading (Instructor Demonstrate)<br />

13. Firing the 12-gauge shotgun<br />

a. Sight alignment<br />

(1) <strong>The</strong> purpose of aiming the shotgun is to:<br />

(a) Keep as many pellets as possible on target.<br />

(b) Avoid missing the target and causing damage.<br />

(2) Place your cheek against the butt stock to obtain proper<br />

eye alignment to the bead front sight.<br />

(3) If you are right-handed, use your right eye for sighting-in<br />

and close your left eye; if you are left-handed, use your<br />

left eye for sighting-in and close your right eye.<br />
