b. 15-pound CO2 portable fire extinguisher<br />

(1) Purpose--Primarily used to combat class “C” fires; however,<br />

can be used to extinguish small localized class “B” fires.<br />

(2) Components<br />

(a) Cylinder--Holds 15 pounds of CO2.<br />

(b) Cylinder valve assembly<br />

1 Opened by squeezing the squeeze grip to activate<br />

extinguisher.<br />

2 To prevent inadvertent activation, the<br />

____________ grip is protected by a locking pin<br />

with a tamper seal.<br />

(c) Hose and horn assembly--Used to direct the flow of CO2<br />

towards the fire.<br />

(3) Operating procedures<br />

(a) Hold extinguisher upright and on the ____________.<br />

cylinder valve assembly.<br />

(c) Grasp the squeeze grip.<br />

(d) Approach the fire, as close as possible, from upwind.<br />

(e) Squeeze the grip to open the cylinder valve and<br />
