Kafana – a social venue in Bosnia-Hercegovina. They wanted to find
their way out of poverty and hoped desperately for a better life.
All of these women believed in work and the promise of making
a decent living in Western Europe. They did not know that they
would be sold. The slave traders confiscate their passports and the
nightmare begins from the first hours of the journey. In fact, the
aim is to crush any hint of rebellion in them by using the most vile
and dreadful methods against women: rapes, violence and abuse,
blackmailing, exhaustion. The trap closes. Terrorised, they are now
the merchandise of tormenting procurers who have neither scruples
nor feelings. Stripped of all human dignity, they are sent to hell. The
Seventh Kafana is a contemporary tragedy, devised from interviews
and accounts from Moldavian women who have been victim of
forced prostitution and human trafficking.
Elles voulaient sortir de la misère et désespéraient d’attendre
des jours meilleurs. Toutes ont cru au travail et à la promesse
de revenus décents en Europe occidentale. Elles ne savaient
pas qu’elles seraient vendues. Les marchands d’esclaves leur
confisquent leur passeport et le cauchemar commence dès les
premières heures du voyage. Il s’agit en effet de les anéantir afin
de briser toute velléité de rébellion en utilisant les armes les plus
viles et les plus redoutables : viols, violences et sévices, chantage,
épuisement. Le piège s’est refermé. Terrorisées, elles sont désormais
les marchandises de bourreaux proxénètes sans scrupules ni états
d’âme. Dépossédées de toute dignité humaine, elles sont envoyées
en enfer. Le septième Kafana est une tragédie contemporaine,
construite à partir de témoignages et de récits recueillis auprès de
femmes moldaves victimes de la prostitution forcée et des trafics
d’êtres humains.
