Noëlle Renaude 1949
par les routes
on the road
They explore the countryside walking the roads with their jackets
thrown over their shoulders, perhaps in search of a happy land that
someone once found. Then, once more, everything starts afresh. On
the Road is a road movie. A two person adventure through part of
France. Nothing connects these two men except for this one detail:
both have just lost their mothers. They leave the greater Paris area,
following motorways, crossing forests, camping in picnic areas,
having breakfast in hotels and running into a certain number of
people who are also suffering from a ‘lack of mother’. The loss of
the mother as a convention of chance would seem to be the only
point of attraction for these furtive encounters.
