Rasha, a man of dark and dangerous intellect, lives in a small and
obscure Serbian town with his alcoholic father, where he receives
frequent visits from his neighbour, a damaged poet who is in and
out of mental institutions, and uses private lessons on Hamlet to
seduce local teenage girls. One day he receives a phone call from
Igor, the best friend whom he has not seen for more than ten years.
Like many other young people from Serbia, Igor left the country
in the wake of the wars in the Balkans to make a new life in
Huddersfield, England, and now he is back home. The play, which
begins as a harmless high-school reunion drama soon develops into
a disturbing and moving story about some of the most important
and generally overlooked issues of contemporary life in Serbia, as
well as speaking of how painful it can be to come to terms with
turning 30.
