Two couples. One event. Four angles on one story. Each character
has his or her own point of view, which together make up the
story of V. O. S. (Original Version with Subtitles). Directed by
Carol López from her own text, the play is about the relationships
between two young and friendly couples, their life together and
their daily routine. Carol López has woven together comedy and
filmic language, as she describes the four characters’ individual
struggles. V.O.S. successfully invites its audience to identify with
the reality it portrays. These are two very different couples; one,
very experienced at the relationship game, and the other, stuck with
a dilemma: how necessary is it for them to have a baby? The play’s
structure is based on flashback: the story begins where it ends, and
the spectator is invited to assemble the scenes like a puzzle.
Deux couples. Une action similaire. Quatre regards pour une
histoire identique. Chacun a son point de vue. Et ces quatre points
de vue composent cette Version Originale Sous-titrée (V. O. S.).
Cette pièce en forme de puzzle nous parle des relations de deux
jeunes couples amis, de la cohabitation et de la quotidienneté. Carol
López met en scène quatre personnages avec leurs problèmes et
conflits, avec lesquels le spectateur s’identifie; et tout cela elle
le fait de façon comique et dans un langage cinématographique,
jeune et frais. Il y a deux couples protagonistes: l’un accumule de
nombreuses années d’expérience et l’autre est devant un dilemme :
faut-il avoir un enfant? La structure de la pièce est innovatrice
puisqu’on commence par la fin, avec la dernière scène : le
spectateur doit recomposer toutes les scènes du puzzle...
