After years of writing plays by hitting hands and stomping feet,
by kicks into the head, the stomach, the head and the stomach, by
spilling blood, sperm, spit, by shovelling meat, by stripping off the
many times stripped skin, after years of rats delivering messages on
stage and human body parts flying into the air, after years of art
waging battles with reality in order for life to be better understood,
after years of artists screaming, yelling, howling from the stage in
anger, the world did not change in the slightest yet again. However,
the world did not stay the same either. After Sarah Kane, the world
will never be the same, not because she wanted to change it, but
because she left it to us as it is.
Numb from screaming, the writers now write whispering. Be
quiet for a moment and listen carefully. Lean over, the stage has
something to whisper to you.

Après de nombreuses années passées à écrire des pièces par des
mains qui frappent et des pieds qui piétinent, par des coups de
pieds dans la tête, l’estomac, la tête et l’estomac, et en versant
du sang, du sperme, de la salive, en creusant la chair à la pelle,
en arrachant la peau maintes fois arrachée, après des années de
messages livrés sur scène par des rats et des parties de corps
humains s’envolant dans l’air, après des années d’un art qui lutte
avec la réalité pour que la vie soit mieux comprise, après des
années d’artistes qui crient, qui clament, qui hurlent leur colère
de la scène, encore une fois le monde n’a pas changé du tout.
Pourtant, le monde n’est pas resté pareil non plus. Après Sarah
Kane, le monde ne sera jamais pareil, non parce qu’elle voulait le
changer, mais parce qu’elle nous l’a laissé tel qu’il est.
Hébétés à force de crier, les auteurs écrivent maintenant en
chuchotant. Taisez-vous un instant et écoutez attentivement.
Penchez-vous, la scène a quelque chose à vous chuchoter.
