This is the story of Oskar Št’astný’s career in painting. With the<br />
help of his shrewd par<strong>en</strong>ts, he moved from the underground to the<br />
limelight, both artistically and personally. Thanks to the commercial<br />
flair of his father and a successful exhibition, Oskar wins it all<br />
– he attains celebrity status, gains respect, wom<strong>en</strong>, and financial<br />
security. But at the same time he loses inspiration and any desire to<br />
paint ever again. This is a Faustian parable, in which art itself is a<br />
protagonist that sells its soul to commercialism in a desire to step<br />
out of anonymity and change the world. But the world devours the<br />
art and spits out a pale, meaningless logo. A glimpse of the world<br />
and art on the edge of their own deaths.<br />
Voilà l’histoire de la carrière éclair du peintre Oskar Št’astný<br />
(Oscar l’Heureux) dont la vie et l’œuvre, <strong>en</strong>tre les mains habiles<br />
de ses par<strong>en</strong>ts, sort<strong>en</strong>t directem<strong>en</strong>t de « l’underground » pour se<br />
trouver sous les feux des projecteurs. Grâce au tal<strong>en</strong>t commercial<br />
de son père et une unique exposition dans une galerie, Oscar gagne<br />
sur tous les terrains – il devi<strong>en</strong>t le numéro 1 <strong>en</strong> célébrité, obti<strong>en</strong>t<br />
respect, femmes et sécurité financière. Mais <strong>en</strong> même temps, il perd<br />
l’inspiration et le désir de peindre. Dans cette parabole fausti<strong>en</strong>ne,<br />
c’est moins un individu qui est le protagoniste que l’art même<br />
qui v<strong>en</strong>d son âme à l’industrie commerciale, par désir de quitter<br />
l’anonymat et par ambition de changer le monde. Mais le monde<br />
dévore l’art pour cracher un logo pâle et vide. Un clin d’œil du<br />
