Mila dreams of starring in a musical. But at the moment she
performs in an obscure night club in north London where people
regularly break glasses and pinch the star’s bottom. Marko dreams
of becoming a comedian. He’s a waiter, for now. Gayle will one day
be a renowned artist. But, for now, she is working with refugees.
Tjaša got to know Europe as a victim of trafficking. All she
dreamed of was to come to London and find someone who once,
a long time ago, promised her a ‘forever’. Erik used to be a war
correspondent. On the battleground in Bosnia, he got caught up in
an explosion and touched the ‘other side’. Today, he can only find
the meaning of life in pleasure. They all came to London in search
of something they thought could be found nowhere else. In the
meantime, while waiting for their desired existence to start, their
lives become intertwined in Michi’s club. There they find something
completely different, something unexpected – maturity, or, more
precisely, ‘adulthood’. And they understand that during all the
time they thought they were only waiting, they were actually at the
crossroads of their lives.
Mila rêve de devenir une star de comédie musicale. Toutefois, pour
débuter, elle est la star d’un club obscur dans le nord de Londres où,
régulièrement, on casse les verres et on pince les fesses de la star.
Marko rêve de devenir un comique. Pour l’instant, il est serveur.
Un jour, Gayle deviendra une célèbre artiste des arts plastiques.
Temporairement, elle travaille avec des réfugiés. Tjasha a connu
l’Europe comme victime du trafic de femmes. Depuis toujours, son
seul rêve était de venir à Londres et de retrouver une personne qui,
il y a longtemps, lui avait promis un « pour toujours ». Erik était
correspondant de guerre. Sur les champs de bataille de Bosnie, il
a survécu à une explosion de bombe et a touché « l’autre côté ».
Le plaisir est le seul sens qu’il donne encore à la vie. Ils sont tous
venus à Londres à la recherche de quelque chose qu’ils ne pensent
trouver nulle part ailleurs. Entre temps, en attendant le moment où
leurs vies de rêve vont commencer, leurs destins s’entrelacent dans
le club de Michi. Là, ils trouvent quelque chose de complètement
inattendu – la maturité, ou plus précisément « l’adultisme ». Ils se
rendent compte que « la période d’attente » était en fait le temps
crucial de leurs existences.
