Alexandros has grown up in an orphanage, without the care and
warmth of a family. The harsh experiences he was subjected to
in his most tender age killed any innocence in him. As a result,
he has ended up as an outlaw. Now, at eighteen, he is already a
professional burglar who steals wallets, breaks into houses and
robs them – preferably those of rich old ladies. His next victim is
Mrs Alexandra, who is in her seventies and lives in her old mansion,
neglected by her children. Alexandros sneaks into her home one
night to rob her. She hears him, they exchange harsh and tender
words, discover they have something in common – their loneliness.
This brings them closer to each other, and finally, a warm human
relationship is formed between them. Alexandros, without realizing
it, offers valuable help to Alexandra, who, in return, wants to give
him something. Nevertheless... the end of the play comes as an
unexpected and moving outcome.
Alexandre est né dans un orphelinat, dépourvu de la tendresse
et de l’accueil d’une famille chaleureuse. Les expériences dures
qu’il a vécues pendant ses années les plus tendres, ont tué en lui
l’innocence, et il est devenu un enfant de l’illégalité. Maintenant
qu’il a dix-huit ans, il est voleur professionnel, il cambriole des
maisons, de préférence celles qui sont habitées par des femmes
riches qui se sentent seules. Sa prochaine victime est madame
Alexandra, à peu près soixante-dix ans, qui vit dans une maison
de maître, négligée par ses enfants. Une nuit, Alexandre entre
secrètement dans sa maison pour la voler. Elle s’en aperçoit,
ils échangent tantôt des mots durs tantôt des mots tendres, ils
découvrent qu’ils ressentent la même chose, la solitude qui les fait
se rapprocher l’un de l’autre, et finalement une chaleureuse relation
humaine se crée entre eux. Alexandre, sans en avoir conscience,
apporte son aide précieuse à Alexandra qui, à son tour, veut la
lui rendre. Malgré tout ... La fin de l’œuvre sera inattendue et
bouleversante.
