Removing the investment backlog

The 54 th BetonTage are held amidst a downward trend in
the construction industry. Yet the tasks and problems still
to be resolved in construction are diverse: solutions suitable
for the elderly, building designs with child and youth
care in mind, sustainability in construction that requires
long-lasting designs catering to the real needs of the people.
What we have been particularly concerned about in
the past few months is the great degree of uncertainty that
incompetent bank managers have caused by their disastrous
speculation activities. The fi nancial crisis literally
dragged down the real, tangible, healthy part of the economy,
and many construction projects were stopped as a
result.
It is about time to remove the investment backlog that
exists particularly in the private sector: the design of numerous
construction projects has been completed – and
put in the drawer. Most of these projects were approved
already but the actual construction activity simply does
not take off . Just because there is a lack of orders or, indeed,
too little courage to invest in the building infrastructure
in order to be prepared for the period following the
recession. Political decision makers, too, need to fi nally
recognize that there is an extremely high-performing industry
that proactively contributes to securing the future
of our society whilst being thoroughly involved in the ongoing
development and evolution of its building material
and of the structural solutions off ered: by conducting application-oriented
research and sharing experience and
expertise with all its market partners – architects, structural
engineers and the public sector.
The platform for all these innovations, as well as for
the sharing of experience, is provided by the BetonTage,
Europe’s largest congress of our future-driven industry.
This is where a vast array of solutions for the future in
construction will be presented and discussed once again.
As the German Precast Concrete Federation, we look forward
to this year’s event because it will highlight opportunities
and show how sustainable, future-proof investments
in precast solutions can be conceived.
I wish all of you the courage to identify the opportunities
for your business, many new insights and inspiring
discussions at the 54 th BetonTage.

Die 54. BetonTage fi nden in einer Zeit der rückläufi gen
Baukonjunktur statt. Dabei sind die Bauaufgaben vielfältig
und längst sind nicht alle Probleme gelöst: altersgerechtes
Bauen, Bauen für die Betreuung von Kindern und
Jugendlichen, Nachhaltigkeit beim Bauen, die langlebige
und menschenfreundliche Lösungen erfordert. Was uns
in diesen Monaten besonders zu schaff en macht, ist die
große Verunsicherung, die unfähige Bankmanager mit
ihren Fehlspekulationen ausgelöst haben. Die eigentlich
gesunde reale Wirtschaft wurde durch die Finanzkrise
mit nach unten gerissen und zahlreiche Bauvorhaben
wurden gestoppt.
Es wird Zeit, dass der Investitionsstau gerade bei der
privaten Wirtschaft wieder gelöst wird, denn zahlreiche
Bauvorhaben liegen fertig projektiert in der Schublade,
sind meist schon genehmigt und dennoch wird nicht begonnen.
Weil Aufträge oder auch der Mut fehlen, jetzt in
die bauliche Infrastruktur für die Zeit nach der Rezession
zu investieren. Und auch die Politik muss endlich erkennen,
dass es eine außerordentlich leistungsfähige Branche
gibt, die aktiv Zukunftssicherung für die Gesellschaft
betreibt. Und die sich sehr intensiv mit der Weiterentwicklung
ihres Baustoff s und ihrer baulichen Lösungen
beschäftigt: durch anwendungsgerechte Forschung und
einen intensiven Erfahrungsaustausch mit allen ihren
Marktpartnern, mit Architekten, Tragwerksplanern und
der öff entlichen Hand.
Die Plattform für diese Innovationen und den fachlichen
Austausch sind die BetonTage, Europas größter
Fachkongress unserer zukunftsgerichteten Industrie.
Hier werden erneut mit einer großen Breite und Tiefe die
Lösungen für die Zukunft des Bauens vorgestellt und gemeinsam
diskutiert. Als Bundesverband Betonbauteile
Deutschland freuen wir uns auf die diesjährige Veranstaltung,
weil sie Chancen aufzeigt, wie nachhaltige und zukunftssichere
Investitionen in Lösungen mit Betonbauteilen
aussehen können.
Ich wünsche Ihnen den Mut, Ihre Chancen zu erkennen,
viele neue Erkenntnisse und anregende Diskussionen
auf den 54. BetonTagen.
