used in the fi eld in various construction projects. The development
of prestressed PI slabs with steel-fi ber reinforcement
is currently being investigated based on this
design method.
Prestressed HPC and UHPC beams
The design of state-of-the-art structures is characterized
by an ever-increasing demand for slender elements with a
low self-weight and wide spans. When implementing
such design specifi cations, the use of state-of-the-art highperformance
concretes in the prestressed steel-fi ber reinforced
concrete girders can achieve the desired results.
High-performance concretes (HPC) and ultra-high performance
concretes (UHPC) provide exceptionally high
compressive strengths of up to 200 N/mm² and outstanding
durability characteristics. As concrete quality increases,
the failure mode of HPC and UHPC, when exposed to
compressive loading, occurs in an increasingly brittle –
and in the end even explosive – manner. The ductility required
for their use in building practice thus needs to be
ensured by the addition of fi bers. Taking into account both
the experience gained with prestressed steel-fi ber reinforced
concrete beams and the fi ndings of the Priority
Program 1182 funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft
(DFG = German Research Foundation), numerical
studies investigated to what extent the range of
applications can be extended to also include HPC and
UHPC. This permits the production of extremely durable
beams which, on the one hand, allow very wide spans due
to their material properties, slender design options and
low self-weight, while, on the other, showing a fi ne crack
distribution pattern and narrow crack widths attributable
to the addition of steel fi bers.
Durable prestressed concrete beams
The construction of infrastructure and industrial plants in
aggressive ambient conditions may sometimes lead to
cases where exceptional durability requirements need to
be met in terms of corrosion of the reinforcing steel. At
the iBMB, the feasibility of highly durable prestressed
concrete beams is being researched in which the steel fi bers
are replaced by plastic macro fi bers (Fig. 2), and the
steel strands are replaced by fi ber-reinforced plastic tendons.
These “steel-free beams” are extraordinarily durable,
and their structural and deformation behaviors are
similar to those of conventional prestressed concrete
beams.
bei vorgespannten Stahlfaserbetonträgern und
der Erkenntnisse aus dem DFG-Schwerpunktprogramm
1182 wurde in numerischen Studien untersucht, inwieweit
sich das Anwendungsspektrum auch auf HFB und
UHFB erweitern lässt. Es können so äußerst dauerhafte
Träger gefertigt werden, die einerseits aufgrund ihrer
Baustoff eigenschaften sowie der möglichen schlanken
Ausführung und geringen Eigenlasten sehr große Spannweiten
erlauben und andererseits durch die Faserzugabe
eine feine Rissverteilung und geringe Rissbreiten aufweisen.
Dauerhafte Spannbetonträger
Bei der Errichtung von Infrastrukturbauten und Industrieanlagen
in aggressiven Umgebungsbedingungen
