STRAIGHT-IN APPROACHES<br />

The values shown in Table I-4-5-2 in Chapter 5 are based on the following calculations:<br />

where:<br />

Minimum OCH = 15 m + Total distance × descent gradient<br />

Total distance = dintercept +dAdd +dTurn<br />

Minimum intercept distance (dintercept) =1400m<br />

Additional flight time distance (dAdd) =TASCat * 5/3 600<br />

TASCat = TAS corresponding to the maximum final approach IAS for each aircraft category + 19 km/h (10 kt)<br />

tailwind, based on a 600 m (2 000 ft) aerodrome elevation.<br />

Additional flight time before crossing centreline = 5 seconds<br />

Turn distance (dTurn) =rCat*tan(max/2)<br />

rCat = Radius <strong>of</strong> turn calculated for TASCat<br />

Maximum turn angle (max) = 15 degrees (for 5 < 15) or 30 degrees (for 15 < 30)<br />
