1.4 Assumption regarding temperature lapse rates<br />

The above equation assumes a constant “<strong>of</strong>f-st<strong>and</strong>ard” temperature lapse rate. The actual lapse rate may vary<br />

considerably from the assumed st<strong>and</strong>ard, depending on latitude <strong>and</strong> time <strong>of</strong> year. However, the corrections derived<br />

from the calculation method are valid up to 11 000 m (36 000 ft).<br />
