Summary Conversions to residential use should be looked at more favourable and should not be a last resort. It is not against national policy and as the Council has a
shortage of affordable housing it should be promoting conversions.
Conversions to low grade economic uses are less likely on cost grounds and workers will need to travel if converted.
Change Sought: There should be reference to home working which allows people to work from home without the need to travel everyday. Such work also brings economic
prosperity to rural areas.
Paragraph should be reworded to give a more positive attitude to conversion to residential local need use and not necessarily affordable.
Should be more positive and less negative attitude towards good residential conversions. The only alternative for some buildings is dereliction. Re-word to
give a more positive attitude to conversions.
