SECTION FOUR - SPATIAL POLICIES, KEY DIAGRAMS AND SUPPORTING DEVELOPMENT CONTROL POLICIES
4.9.2 Minerals and Waste Strategic Statement, Policy MWS/1 MINERALS AND WASTE
19181 Mineral Products Association ltd (Mr Malcolm Ratcliff) [4536]
1 Object
Summary In order to comply with national policy the LDP policy needs to safeguard all potential mineral resources of economic potential for the long term in accordance
with MPPW. The LDP draft has erred in applying value judgements on the workability or current commercial interest in minerals to inform its policy and has
given insufficient weight to the national policy requirement to safeguard potential mineral resources.
Such safeguarding would include the currently permitted reserves and associated infrastructure mentioned in the existing policy text.
Change Sought: Accordingly, we would like to see MWS/1 para b) amended to read "Safeguarding potential mineral resources of igneous rock, limestone and sand and
gravel;"
MWS/1 para d) should also be deleted.
