SECTION FOUR - SPATIAL POLICIES, KEY DIAGRAMS AND SUPPORTING DEVELOPMENT CONTROL POLICIES 4.7.4 Buildings and Structures of Local Importance, Policy CTH/3 BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES OF LOCAL IMPORTANCE Rep No Name People Type 14458 Beech Developments (NW) Ltd (Mr Mike Roberts) [1966] 1 Object Summary As presently drafted this Policy appears to impose controls on buildings identified on the local list which are equivalent to those imposed on statutorily listed buildings, this is clearly inappropriate because the buildings are not listed, nor will their identification necesarily arise from an informed appraisal as is usually the case with CADW when buildings are listed (and importantly, these buildngs are excluded from listing and, by definition are not of equivalent merit). Change Sought: Whilst no objection is raised to the identification of a local list, the approach to Policy needs to be much more measured, adding weight to standard considerations of impact on character, but falling short of treating them, effectively, as listed buildings. This Policy should be amended accordingly. 14520 Conwy Civic Society (Dr Michael Senior) [4481] 1 Object Summary We also have concerns over the intention to introduce a specific list of 'Building and Structures of Local Importance'; Conwy already has its Conservation Area, a selection of Listed Buildings, and its Historic Monuments. The addition of further scheduling and controls over other buildings seems superfluous, and, as described, we feel the system would be unworkable, under the current government restrictions and staffing levels of the planning department, and any available resources would be better used to offer constructive advice to property owners as opposed to policing a further tier of restrictions.
