Change Sought: include area in Green Wedge 308 Mr Stephen Jones [582] 1 Object Summary Whilst I broadly support the policy I strongly object to Green Wedge boundaries in Table NTE/2a, between Penrhyn Bay and Rhos on Sea, being amended 'to meet housing need' What housing need? Conwy Council has recently closed a number of schools due to a reduction in pupil numbers. Surely, this would be indicative of a declining population and would negate the need to build on green field sites. Even if such a 'housing need' were identified shouldn't the Council be examining redevelopment of brown field sites before destroying the countryside? Change Sought: Abandon the amendment to the Green Wedge boundaries in Table NTE/2a which would allow housing to be built between Rhos on Sea and Penrhyn Bay. 47 Mr and Mrs David Gee [103] Summary Green wedge 2 should be slightly reduced in size. Change Sought: Green wedge 2 should be slightly reduced in size. 1736 Barton Willmore (Mr Michael Courcier) [44] Summary The site shown on the attached plan at Glan Conwy Corner should be deleted from the green wedge shown under Policy NTE/2. The site is shown by the Deposit Draft as part of a green wedge which is meant to separate Llandudno Junction from Mochdre. This is a new designation as the site was not previously shown as part of the green wedge between Llandudno Junction and Mochdre by either the Llandudno District Plan or the Conwy Draft Unitary Development Plan. In any event, the site does little to separate the two settlements as it is to the south of Conwy Road and not within the critical open gap between Llandudno Junction and Mochre. Change Sought: Delete the site from the Green Wedge. 1775 Mostyn Estates Limited (Mr Peter Caldwell) [717] Summary Land at Nant-y-~Gamar Road, Llandudno The land is enclosed on three sides by existing development. The site is partially screened by existing development and is not significant in the landscape. Its development would form a natural extension of Craig-y-Don and would not result in the coalescence of Craig-y-Don and Craigside nor affect the open character of the remaining open land between these settlements. The land was not included in the green wedge in previous development plans. For further justification - see submission. Change Sought: Vary the area and boundary of green wedge No. 3 designation to omit land fronting Nant-y-Gamar Road. 624 Cllr Myra Wigzell [882] 1 Object Summary I broadly agree with the Green Wedge between Craig y Don and Penrhynside but would suggest that the area to the west of Penrhynside including the dwellings of Los Atlos, ty cerrig, Bryn Dedwydd and other be included in the Green Wedge. Change Sought: include area into the Green Wedge 5166 Beech Developments (NW) Ltd [765] 1 Object Summary The Background Paper indicates that the function of Green Wedge 2 is to prevent the coalescence of the settlements of Deganwy, Llandudno Junction and Llanrhos-Llandudno. It is clear that the smaller site has no significant function in this respect with the established built form within the area already dictating an edge to the settlement which is consistent with the northern edge of the suggested site - hence why the proposal has been described as, in effect, a logical rounding-off in this location. Change Sought: It is proposed that land as illustrated on the attached plan and located at the junction of Marl Lane and Pentywyn Road within Green Wedge 2 should be excluded from the designated area as the area in question performs no significant green wedge function; the retention of the land within the designated green wedge makes the plan unsound in context of Test CE2 having regard to paragraph above. 578 Miss Serena Jones [853] 1 Object Summary The area of land to the north of Llanrhos Road/Glanwydden Lane and between Derwen Lane should be designated Green Wedge to protect the nature and biodiversity of the land, and to prevent the possible joining of communities.
