SPATIAL POLICIES, KEY DIAGRAMS AND SUPPORTING DEVELOPMENT CONTROL POLICIES
Policy EMP/6 Tourism
Rep No Name
People Type
457 Chris Wynne (Mr Chris Wynne) [721]
1 Support
Summary While we support the desire to protect the natural environment further recognition should be given to the role of the natural environment in tourism and its
contribution to the local economy
5161 Ainscough Strategic Land. (Mr Nigel McGurk) [2073]
1 Support
Summary As previously stated the land controlled by Ainscough Johnson needs to be recognised for its potential to provide enhanced facilities for tourism related
activities within the County, espcially given its location within the County and accessibiity to the National Park.
Change Sought: We would consider that there should be specific reference to Dolgarrog within the policy and its significant Tourism/Leisure potential and that where
appropriate, such uses will be encouraged to be developed on the site.
1561 Countryside Council for Wales (Mr Richard Ninnes) [1948]
Summary CCW supports the clauses requiring protection of the natural and built environment and heritage qualities.
CCW supports the use of the Public Rights of Way Plan and Coastal access to improve tourism.
663 Rossisle Ltd [833]
1 Object
Summary There is a growing trend to stay at home (within the UK) for holidays. This is occurring because of current economic reasons, more lengthy and complicated
air travel arrangements, personal concerns about global warming and in response to better quality home holiday offers during the whole year. This policy
should be more supportive of this change and trend in the tourism sector.
Change Sought: Add a clause:
Support for well designed self catering accommodation that can show resource efficient design (RED) will be given where the schemes of an appropriate
scale and size to the community they are located within.
1611 Lyons Holiday Parks [1961]
1 Object
Summary Objection to policy EMP/6 crierion d and EMP/9 1b. It is not supported by any evidence base justifying the approach taken or the alternative spatial options.
There is no background paper or survey data supporting the policy stance to prohibit either extensions to existing or the
provision of new sites. Lyons Holiday Parks objects to the policy as it would restrict customer choice, stifle innovation in delivery, prevent caravan parks from
responding and adapting to
changing markets and standards as well as placing the Companies parks in an uncompetitive and unfavourable position when compared to sites in
neighbouring North Wales Authorities and nationally.
Change Sought: This part of the policy should be amended to allow for enhancement and extension of sites in appropriate circumstance. A policy based criteria could suffice
and provide flexibility.
1473 Conwy Children and Young People's Partnership (Ms Alwen Sian Williams) [1867]
1 Object
Summary Not much to appeal to the younger tourists. Economy should be more diverse not just TOURISM! If tourism is the main industry and children don't want to do
that then why should they stay? Improved links from different tourist attractions.
Change Sought: Review Tourism policy section.
