Summary Where feasible to do so, all development should connect to a public sewer. However, for remote rural locations we accept that some villages and hamlets
may not have the benefit of public facilities (in particular sewers) and therefore alternative facilities would need to be considered.

we would also suggest that the last two sentences of NTE/8 should be omitted, ie 'A package treatment plant should be provided where this is not possible.
Only where it is clearly demonstrated that neither of these options is feasible will a system incorporating septic tank(s) be acceptable.'. This is too prescriptive
and the method of foul drainage disposal will need to be assessed on a site by site basis.
