Summary The text recognises that a repalcement dwelling in the countryside is likely to have a greater visual impact than the dwelling it replaces and indicates that a
replacement dwelling "should be similar in size and height to the original structure". CPRW is in agreement with this. However the Plan gives no clear
guidance on what is meant by similar and reliance is placed on Policy DP/6. However as there are no clear national policy or guidelines which can be used the
Plan should give more prescriptive guidance. The absence of such clarity is likely to lead to inconsistency.
Change Sought: Clearer guidance needs to be given in the LPD through either a Plan policy or in an SPG, preferably the former.
