128 Llandudno Safe Cycling Group (Dr Neil McKenzie) [207]
1 Support
Summary The tiny % of cyclists quoted in 4.245 is due mainly to the dangerous road conditions for cyclists in Llandudno. Children cannot cycle to school safely, or from
home to shops, beach etc. so do not develop the habit of cycling.
It is essential to develop a safe cycling access route network (SCARN) in Llandundo
Summary Cycle infrastructure
Support
The Llandudno SAfe Cycling Group has raised the need for a safe cycling access route network (SCARN) for Llandudno, with Gareth Jones who raised the
issue in the Assembly in 2008 and resulted in a meeting with the Deputy 1st Minister on 23rd July, attended by representatives of ALL the major stakeholders
88 Friends of Plas Gogarth (Dr Neil McKenzie) [148]
1 Support
Summary The emphasis on cycling is most welcome, especially in Llandudno which is flat, and with some wide roads and pavements well suited to developing an
integrated cycle route network. However, very little has been done in practice to make Llandudno a safe place for cyclists.
1482 Conwy Children and Young People's Partnership (Ms Alwen Sian Williams) [1867]
Summary I am happy with the overall coverage that the Plan gives to sustainable transport, but I do not believe that the plan is detailed enough in what it proposes for
walking & cycling. The majority of projects that it details are already in the programme and should be complete within the next 5 years, whereas the plan runs
until 2022.
Walking & Cycling networks should be proposed for all major towns in the county with all new developments contributing to walking & cycling links in the
vicinity of the new development.
