Compound verbs, syntactical matrix of which is “noun + infinitive”, are
of great interest in Avar language study. It is caused that this type of verbs, being
analytic formations, on the one hand preserve some stages in the process of
changing them into synthetic forms, and on the other – these analytic formation
widely function as idiomatic set expressions, conveying any action or process.
In this connection there is particularly acute the problem of classification such
kind of formations into compound verbs and verb set expressions.
