B. When the project is in progress, the roofing system manufacturer (a
representative of the manufacturer) will provide the following:

1. Report progress and quality of the work as observed in order to ascertain that
the roofing system has been installed according to their published
specifications, standards and details.
2. Report to the Architect in writing any failure or refusal of the Contractor to
correct unacceptable practices called to the Contractor's attention.
3. Confirm after completion that manufacturer has observed no applications
procedures in conflict with the specifications other than those that may have
been previously reported and corrected.
A. Surfaces on which the roofing membrane system is to be applied shall be clean,
smooth, dry, and free of fins, sharp edges, loose and foreign materials, oil and
grease.
1. Before beginning work, a representative of the manufacturer shall examine the
roof surfaces in order to ensure that the substrate is acceptable.
2. Do not begin installation until all defective conditions have been corrected.
3. All surface voids greater than 1/4" wide shall be properly filled with an
acceptable fill material.
B. Fire and Smoke Protection:
1. Kettles shall be located so as to prevent damage to buildings or other
property. They shall not be positioned on roof decks. Mops shall be spun at
the end of work periods to separate the strands, and shall be stored in that
conditions to prevent spontaneous combustion. Fire extinguishers shall be
provided near kettles for immediate use.
A. The Contractor is to cover damages to the building resulting from failure to
prevent penetration of water during construction.
B. Applicator’s Warranty: At completion of project and prior to final acceptance, the
roofing contractor shall furnish in writing and notarized, 5 copies of Roofing
Contractor’s warranty for all work of the new roof system against both faulty
material and workmanship and to be free of water leaks for work two (2) years
from date of Owner’s acceptance.
1. Address warranty to Owner and deliver to Architect for review and transmittal.
2. During this two (2) year period, agree to remove, repair and replace all
defects, defective materials and generally to maintain roofing system and
associated sheet metal and accessories in its original weathertight and
watertight condition, all without cost to Owner. Such warranty should reflect
this paragraph verbatim and provisions of warranty as required by Close-out
