SECTION 09 30 00 – TILING
PART 1 – GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
1.2 SUBMITTALS
A. Definitions - Tile includes ceramic surfacing units made from clay or other ceramic
materials. The types of work of this section include:
1. Porcelain Floor and Wall Tile
2. Tile Trim and Accessories to achieve a complete installation.
B. Related Sections include the following:
1. Division 7 Section “Joint Sealants”
2. Division 9 Section “Resilient Tile Flooring”
3. Division 9 Section “Carpeting”
A. Samples - Submit manufacturer's color charts consisting of actual tiles or sections
of tiles showing full range of colors available for each type of tile specified.
B. Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings including tile and their specific locations as
indicated on the drawings. Show expansion joint locations for approval.
C. Grout manufacturer's color chart and instructions for use of grout.
1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Tile Manufacturing Standard: ANSI A137.1. Furnish tile complying with standard
grade requirements unless indicated otherwise.
B. Provide materials obtained from one source for each type and color of tile, grout,
and setting materials.
C. Tile Council of America, Inc.
1. Handbook No. F113-11 (thinset) at all on-grade concrete areas not indicated
to be recessed.
2. Handbook No. W245-11 for wall tile installed over backerboard.
D. Tile Installation Standards: ANSI Standards - Comply with applicable
requirements of the following, except as otherwise indicated:
1. ANSI A108.5. Tiles installed with Latex-Portland Cement Mortar; for ceramic
