Noise Generator and Distortion SimulatorSMIQ2.24.4 Calculation of the Distortion Characteristic from PolynomialEquationsA characteristic can be defined by entering polynomial coefficients in submenu POLYNOMIAL instead oftransferring reference values via the IEC/IEEE bus. The characteristic is calculated and loaded from thefour polynomial coefficients for AM-AM and AM-PM using the equations specified under section 2.24.1.An IEC/IEEE-bus transfer is not required in this case.It is possible to compensate the distortion of an amplifier connected after the SMIQ using the INVERSEFUNCTION.The characteristic entered via polynomial coefficients should be identical to the distortion characteristicof the amplifier. The level correction described in section 2.24.3 can be directly entered in the POLYNOMIAL menu. Ifthe polynomial is activated, this value can be displayed and set in the NOISE/DIST menu under LEVELCORRECTION. The determination by measurement of the level correction is performed as described insection 2.24.3.1125.5555.03 2.390 E-9
