Commissioners held dialogues with invited speakers andsought comments from members of <strong>the</strong> public to gain insight into issues and opportunitiesfacing each region, and to solicit recommendations <strong>for</strong> Commission consideration.The regional meetings highlighted relevant case studies and regional models with potentialnational applicability.Invited panelists were selected based on <strong>the</strong>ir expertise on <strong>the</strong> topics highlighted ateach meeting, with a strong ef<strong>for</strong>t to maintain a balance of interests and gain perspectivesfrom all sectors (Figure 2.1).
