formwork is not provided other that slabs shall be smoothed with a<br />

float to give a finish equal to that of the rubbed down face, where<br />

formwork is provided. The top face of a slab which is not intended to<br />

be covered with other materials shall be leveled and floated to a<br />

smooth finish at the levels or falls shown on the drawings or as<br />

directed. The floating shall be done so as not to bring as excess of<br />

mortar to the surface of the concrete. The top face of a slab intended<br />

to be surfaced with other materials shall be left with a spaded finish.<br />

Faces of concrete intended to be plastered shall be roughened by<br />

approved means to form a key.<br />

5.27 Concrete for flooring on grade:<br />

Concrete for flooring on grade shall be over well packed stone<br />

metalling or on earth as specified with or without reinforcement, placed<br />

in alternate bas not exceeding more than 6m x 6m or as specified<br />

including hacking the joints or adjacent bays. The water cement ratio<br />

shall not exceed 0.4. The stiff mix shall be thoroughly vibrated and<br />

finished to receive the floor finish.<br />

5.28 Other applicable codes of practice for in-situ reinforced construction<br />

All other requirements not covered by the above clauses shall be<br />

governed by relevant clause of Specifications for Road and Bridge Works<br />

of MORT&H latest version IS 456, IS 3370, IS 2571 and other relevant<br />

standards as may be applicable.<br />

5.29 Grouting of base plates & bolt holes:<br />

Dry grout should be mixed in a mechanical mixer, the conventional<br />
