and the testing procedure/ laboratory where tests are to be carried out
shall be specifically brought out and agreed to prior to the signing of
the Contract. The Contractor shall furnish to the Engineer a certificate
of compliance of tests carried out. In addition, tests reports from
manufacturer clearly identifiable to the lot of materials shall be
furnished at the Contractor’s cost. The decision of the Engineer
regarding testing procedure and specifications shall be final and
binding on the Contractor.
1.15 BASIC MATERIALS :
1.15.1 Cement :
Ordinary Portland cement shall conform to IS 8112 (Grade 43) and IS
12269 (Grade 53) only for PCC, RCC shall be used. Cement shall be
stored as per relevant clauses of MORTH specifications.
1.15.2 Coarse Aggregates :
The size and quality of coarse aggregates for all concrete works shall
conform to IS 383. They shall be tested as per relevant IS practice.
Size : For RCC and PCC works, the maximum nominal size of coarse
aggregates shall conform to Section 1705 of MORT & H specifications.
Gravel : This shall not be permitted to be used for any concrete works.
1.15.3 Fine Aggregates :
1.15.4 Water :
Grading and quality of fine aggregates shall conform to IS 383 and
shall be tested as per relevant IS code practice.
a) It shall be clean and free from deleterious materials and shall
conform to IRC 21.
