1.9.4 Sampling of Materials :<br />

The Contractor shall furnish without any charge all samples required<br />

and shall offer such facilities as the Engineer/his representative may<br />

require for testing. Samples provided to the Engineer for their retention<br />

are to be in labeled boxes suitable for storage. Quality of materials or<br />

workmanship not as per the approved samples will be rejected by the<br />

Engineer and shall be removed from the site as directed by the<br />

Engineer, at the contractor’s own cost. Samples required for testing<br />

and approval must be supplied well in advance to allow for testing and<br />

approval. Delay in work arising from late submission of samples will<br />

not be accepted as reason for delay in completion of work.<br />

1.9.5 STORAGE OF MATERIALS :<br />

All materials shall be stored as to prevent their deterioration and to<br />

ensure the preservation of their quality and fitness for the work and<br />

shall be stored in accordance with MORT&H <strong>specifications</strong>. Such<br />

materials, even though approved before storage, shall be subject to<br />

retest and must meet covered by any of the above <strong>specifications</strong>, the<br />

execution of the <strong>works</strong> shall be in conformity with sound Engineering<br />

Practice. In all such cases, the decision of the Engineer shall be final<br />

and binding on the Contractor and no extra cost shall be paid on this<br />

account.<br />

1.10 The contractor shall provide all materials, labour, plants, tools, etc.<br />

necessary for the satisfactory completion of work. He shall be<br />

responsible for supply, use and maintenance of all construction plants<br />

and equipments and shall ensure the efficient working of the same<br />

without any interruption. The Contractor shall ensure high standard of<br />

workmanship in all trades by employing only skilled and experienced<br />

tradesmen.
