A complete record regarding various tests carried out at site<br />

and in the laboratory shall be kept by the Engineer. The<br />

contractor shall provide at their own cost all facility for labour,<br />

material, transport etc. required for the proper execution of<br />

the above test.<br />

Any concrete which does not comply with the above<br />

requirement shall be liable for rejection by the Engineer.<br />

Gauge Boxes<br />

Gauge boxes approved type shall be used for measuring sand and<br />

coarse aggregate in required proportion whenever concrete is<br />

allowed to be prepared by mixing the aggregate on volumetric<br />

basis. Such boxes shall be of seasoned timber or steel and shall be<br />

of such size and shape and shall be used in such a manner as to<br />

enable the proportion of the material to be checked readily. The<br />

cement used in concrete is however shall not be used by measuring<br />

it is gauge boxes, but it shall be measured by weight, whatever may<br />

be the type of concrete.<br />

45.3 STORAGE OF MATERIAL<br />

Cement, fine and coarse shall be stored separately at the site of<br />

work in such a manner as to prevent any deterioration of<br />

contamination or admixture of foreign materials. Any material<br />

which has been damaged or is considered defective by the Engineer<br />

shall not be used on the <strong>works</strong> and shall be removed immediately<br />

from the site of <strong>works</strong>.
