Where the aggregate fail to meet the requirements of the water sensitivity test in Table 500-8, then 2 percent by total weight of aggregate, of hydrated lime shall be added without additional cost. 10.2.5 Aggregate grading and binder content: When tested in accordance with IS :2386 Part I (wet sieving method), the combined grading of the coarse and fine aggregate and added filler for the particular mixture shall fall within the limits shown in Table 500-10, for dense bituminous macadam grading 1 or 2 as specified in the Contract. The type and quantity of bitumen and appropriate thickness, are also indicated for each mixture type.
