The volume of concrete measured in cubic meter shall include that<br />

occupied by :<br />

1) Reinforcement and other metal sections.<br />

2) Cast in components each less than 0.01 m3 in volume.<br />

3) Rebates, fillets or internal splays each less than 0.005 m2 in<br />

cross sectional areas.<br />

4) Pockets and holes not exceeding 0.01 m3 in volume.<br />

5) Rates for precast concrete shall include demoulding, handling,<br />

storing, transporting and erecting at site, including all clamping,<br />

bolting, bracing that may be required during erection, including<br />

erection equipment.<br />

5.24 READY-MIXED CONCRETE AND PUMPING CONCRETE :<br />

The provision in this section apply to all Ready Mix Concrete and shall<br />

be considered supplementary to general provisions for reinforced<br />

concrete <strong>works</strong>. The test shall be carried out at RMC manufacturer’s<br />

laboratory on all concrete ingredients as per the <strong>specifications</strong>.<br />

However, if directed by Engineer, test will be carried out on random<br />

sample at <strong>CIDCO</strong> approved laboratory by RMC manufacturer<br />

/contractor.<br />

5.24.1 Ready-mixed concrete may be manufactured in a central automatic<br />

weight Batching plant and transported to the job in agitating transit<br />

mixer.<br />

The maximum size of coarse aggregate shall be limited to one-third of<br />

the smallest inside diameter of the hose or pipes used for pumping.<br />

Provision shall be made for elimination of over-sized particles by<br />

screening or by careful selection of aggregates. To obtain proper<br />

gradation it may be necessary to combine and blend certain fractional<br />

sizes to aggregates. Uniformity of gradation throughout the entire job<br />

shall be maintained.
