of thick crean. The brick to be coloured shall be laid on the iron-<br />

plate with a fire underneath and heated to a heat not too great to<br />

admit of their being handled. They are to be taken out one at a<br />

time and dipped into the liquid for a few seconds, and then placed<br />

on a table to dry (which they do in a few minutes). When dry, they<br />

are to be lightly washed in cold water and placed aside to dry<br />

agains. The material for the colouring liquid shall be linseed oil,<br />

turpentine and litharage with the proper colouring matter unless<br />

otherwise specified.<br />

Where yellow bricks are required, either Naosari yellow bricks or<br />

fire bricks of uniform colour shall be used.<br />

22.1 MODE OF MEASUREMENT & PAYMENT :<br />

The contract rate shall be for a unit of one cubic metre of Brick<br />

Masonry Work. The Brick Masonry Work shall be measured for its<br />

length, breadth and depth, limiting dimensions to those specified on<br />

the plan or as ordered by the Engineer. Individual dimension shall be<br />

measured correct to one cubic metre and quantities shall be worked<br />

out correct up to three places of decimals of a cubic metre.<br />

e) Cement Plaster to Brick Work<br />

Cement plaster shall be provided to brick masonry or rubble<br />

masonry wherever directed by the Engineer.<br />
