1.4 Breaking of road surface ;
The item of excavation shall also cover the cost of breaking road
surfaces of all types wherever needed including foundation. The
classification of such excavation shall be deemed to be in hard
soil/murum.
1.5 Shoring :
Normally no shoring may be required. However, if due to site
conditions the same is found necessary, the contractor will provide it
wherever it is needed or as directed by Engineer at no extra cost and
deformed timber shall be used for shoring and strutting.
1.6 Dewatering of trenches :
The contractor shall provide and work at his own cost all pumps,
engines and machineries required to keep the trenches during the
excavation, pipe laying etc. clear of water, whether it is sub-soil, soil
water, creek water, storm water or leakage from tanks, wells, drains
sewer pipes and from an other source or reasons. If there should be
nay accumulation of water, no setting out shall be done, no masonry
is to be laid, no concrete is to be deposited, no pipe to be laid and
no measurements to be taken. The pumping shall be continued
during and after excavation of any portion of the work and repeated
as after as the engineer may consider if necessary for inspection,
testing etc. The pump used shall be of adequate capacity. When the
water in the trench is being pumped out across a road, care shall be
taken that there is no obstruction to the vehicular traffic. If it is
necessary to make done by the contractor at no extra cost as
directed by the Engineer. The contractor shall get pumped water
