R: Everybody goes for different purposes. Lots of Russians come here from the
former Soviet Union republics. They were born Russians over there and they are
discriminated over there, it is really difficult situation over there… Or it’s not
difficult situation, they just want to make profit from this. They want to come to
Belgium as asielzoekers, so they don’t need that much of material support, they just
don’t want work. It also happens that people from here like… the ladies who come
here. I think every situation is different. Some of them come just to have papers and
to live in the county of the social security. And they will manage their husbands -
that they met on internet for example or a marriage agency - just no matter, just
like, yeah, he is not a criminal, he is not sick for example, I don’t love him but ok, I
will manage him from 3 years and then I will apply for the Belgium nationality.
Then I will get divorced and I will get profit from the situation.
I: Do you think that it exists?
R: It exists. I’m sure that it exists. Some women come here, just because they want
