2 The EVTEK Institute of Arts and Design - A Polytechnic school
of Arts
The history of the EVTEK Institute of Arts and Design goes back to 1984,
when it offered education of vocational level. Nowadays EVTEK is part of
the Finnish polytechnic school system. EVTEK Institute of Arts and Design
offers studying programs under four primary headings. The polytechnic
degree is equivalent to the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in the UK, the
French Licence, the German “Diplom Fachhochschule” and the Dutch
HBO Diploma.
The four basic degree programs of the school are:
- Conservation; which is sub-divided in five different areas
- Design; which is divided into textile design and fashion design
- Media
- Restoration
3 The main targets of the Natural Dyes Product Research and
Development Project
3.1 The main target groups of the project
The main target groups of the project are textile industry and people working
or studying in the field of textiles; artists, craftsmen, teachers and
students.
Information and education
Project gathers together and spreads out knowledge of natural dyes. We
will also arrange educational events as symposiums, short and longer lasting
courses. During the education events we will gather together the
participants to learn both natural dye techniques and the modern technology
in the field of textiles.
During the education we will be able to support the use of natural
dyes in the production of our participants. We shall also teach them to use
modern technology in design and also in production of textiles. Their production
will be planned to be safe and ecological throughout the process,
so the life cycle of the product is ecological. In the end of the project we
shall create marketing possibilities for their ecological products.
